The folks over at Designmantic came up with a great infographic listing The 10 Commandments of User Interface Design. With so many websites competing for your attention the ones that stand out often have the best design. Each “Commandment” includes six items (sub-Commandments?) to keep in mind while designing your site. Realistically it won’t be possible to achieve all of these goals on each site, but this is a great cheat-sheet and a reminder of what’s right and wrong in the current state of user design.
Recognized as one of the finest tiki lounges in the country, Forbidden Island knows how to mix a cocktail. A staple on the California coast, they are innovators in their field and when they needed a refresh of their website they came to United Networks.
As we all know, mobile web traffic continues to grow at an astounding rate. As mobile demand grows it becomes more and more important for businesses to take their mobile web presence seriously. That’s exactly what Forbidden Island did when they asked us to create a new responsive website for their lounge.
We worked with Michael Thanos, one of Forbidden Island’s owners, and examined their analytics to determine which pages were popular and which weren’t getting as much traffic. Based on that analysis we created a new design that focuses on what was important to their customers and then optimized everything for search engines and multiple device types.
United Networks was very professional in their approach. They spent a lot of time building our site and took the time to include/edit all of our random wishes and requests. After 8 years in business, we’re proud to have a site that not only looks great, but that works well on all modern platforms.- Michael Thanos - Owner, Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge
When Amy Nix of Nirvana Massage came to us four months ago she had an online business that was growing quickly and she was looking for a company to take her to the next level. She didn’t have a logo or branding elements for her company, and her BigCommerce store was still using a default template with very little customization. Amy needed a complete solution, and she wanted to get started right away.
United Networks has worked with three executive directors during their tenure as web designer for Norfolk Sister City Association. Through two website updates, training of two directors, implementation of a new membership database and general graphics support, they have displayed the highest levels of professionalism, patience and good humor. I have referred United Networks to other businesses and non-profits and will continue to do so at every opportunity. Jennifer Priest - Norfolk Sister City Association
